University of Kentucky Scholarship for undergraduate and graduate students

    About the university:

    • Offers undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in its 16 colleges and professional schools.
    • The programmes include – from Business and Engineering to Psychology, Architecture and Health Sciences.

    Duration: Four-year renewable award, contingent upon full-time enrollment at the University of Kentucky and a minimum cumulative UK grade point average of 2.50 or better.

    Scholarship amount: The scholarship ranges from $5,000 per year to the cost of in-state tuition.

    Eligibility:

    • Applicants must be planning to enroll at the Lexington campus as first-time freshmen in the fall semester of 2011.
    • In addition, applicants must submit a high school transcript with a minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale and a 500-word essay on the topic: How I will contribute to diversity at the University of Kentucky.

    Note: Offers will only be made to students who have been admitted to UK. Thus, applicants must submit a completed UK Admission Application to the UK Office of Undergraduate Admission.

    Selection Process: Awards will be made based on the applicant’s ranking within the competitive pool –  test scores, grades, an essay, leadership experience, extracurricular activities, awards and recognition, community service, and contribution to diversity.
